We are a small chiropractic and massage practice in Santa Cruz. The information we hold about you is the information you gave us so that we could look after you or answer your question. We do not sell it. We do not hand it to anyone for their own marketing. This page says plainly what happens to it.

There are four ways information reaches us.
The site itself collects nothing. There is no contact form on it, and we run neither analytics nor an advertising pixel. It sets no cookie of its own. The booking section loads a scheduler from Acuity Scheduling, and anything you type inside that scheduler goes to Acuity rather than to the page around it. Acuity may set its own cookies in there so that your booking works.
Your name, email address, phone number, the service you chose, and anything you write in the notes. If you pay online, the card is handled by Stripe. We never see or hold your full card number.
If you answer one of our ads, the form opens inside Facebook or Instagram and Meta sends us the name, email address and phone number you entered, together with your answer to the question about text messages. The form itself is operated by Meta and is covered by Meta's privacy policy as well as by this one.
What you asked for, how to reach you, and the notes the front desk keeps so that the next person who speaks to you knows where things stand.
Anything you tell Dr. Melanie about your health in the course of care belongs to your patient record. It is held under the rules that apply to a chiropractic practice in California, it sits apart from everything described on this page, and it is never used for advertising or given to an advertising platform.
Healing Waves Wellness sends two kinds of text message, and only to people who asked us to send them.
Appointment messages. Confirmations and reminders for visits you have booked, and the occasional note when something about your appointment changes.
Enquiry messages. If you asked about becoming a new patient, we reply by text and follow up until you book or tell us to stop.
How we ask. You opt in by ticking the box on our enquiry form, by giving us your mobile number when you book, or by asking us at the front desk. We never add a number that was not given to us for this. The box on the enquiry form reads:

How often. Appointment messages arrive as your appointments do. Enquiry follow up runs to no more than eight messages over ninety days, and it stops as soon as you book or ask us to stop.
Cost. We charge nothing for the messages. Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile plan.
How to stop. Reply STOP to any message from us. STOP, END, QUIT, CANCEL, UNSUBSCRIBE, REVOKE and OPT OUT all work. You can also call or text (831) 466-3900, email info@healingwaveswellness.com, or tell anyone at the front desk. Every one of those counts as telling us to stop, and we act on it the same way.

Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
No mobile information is shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent are excluded from every category described below under Who sees your information, and that data is not shared with any third party. The only companies that receive your mobile number in connection with texting are the ones that deliver the messages for us, and they may use it for nothing else.
We use a small number of companies to run the practice. Each one holds your information only to do the job we hired it for, and none of them is permitted to sell it or use it for its own marketing.
We do not sell your information, and we give it to no one for their marketing. We will disclose it if the law requires it, and we would tell you if that ever happened unless we were forbidden to.
We advertise on Facebook and Instagram. Those ads use an enquiry form that opens inside the app, so nobody is sent to this website and nothing about the ad is measured here.
As of the date at the top of this page, this website carries no advertising pixel, no analytics and no tag manager of any kind. Nothing here measures anyone. If we ever add measurement, we update this page first, and it names what is running before it runs.
Patient records are kept for as long as the law requires a chiropractic practice in California to keep them. Enquiry details are kept while we are still in touch with you and are removed when you ask. One thing survives a deletion request on purpose: the record that you asked us to stop texting. Without it we have no way to be sure you are not texted again.
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, and tell us to stop texting or emailing. Call (831) 466-3900 or write to info@healingwaveswellness.com. A person here answers these. It usually takes a few days, and asking changes nothing about the care you get.
Children are seen in the practice with a parent or guardian, who gives us their details. We do not knowingly collect information directly from anyone under 18 through this website or through our advertising.
If we change how any of this works, we change this page and update the date at the top.
